Hey all, Dani here.
We’re at the middle of the week already? Where is the time going? I feel like this year keeps speeding by faster and faster. According to my Goodreads for my reading challenge I am at 40 books read, which technially puts me roughly 6 books ahead for my goal of 100 books, but I somehow feel like I’m behind. That’s probably because of precisely how many books I read last year, so I’m not close to where I was at this time last year.
But my social life has gotten a bit more full compared to last year. This year I work a good shift at work and it gives me evenings and weekends free, so I’m able to do stuff with friends. Sadly that also means it is a bit harder to schedule in reading time…and I prioritize reading time over writing up blog posts, so I end up with a massive backlog of posts I want to write and it makes it seem like I’ll never have enough time to actually catch up.
I’m trying though. Honestly if I can manage to figure out time in my week where I can fit in about two hours of blogging time, I could probably write up 3 or 4 posts, which would be really nice.
Anyway, welcome back to my What I’m Reading series of posts, where I talk about what I’ve read recently, what I am currently reading, and what I am hoping to read soon.
When it comes to the books I’ve read since this post last week, I finished The Ancient Magus’ Bride Vol 2.
Okay, so for current reads, I can honestly blame one of my co-workers for changing all of my reading plans. Last week for laundry day I legitimately planned to read through three volumes of manga…and then I asked a co-worker how she was doing with her progress reading the Outlander series by Diana Galbadon. This led to over an hour of talking about the books and the TV series, and I had to admit that I had stopped 100 pages into Dragonfly in Amber because I got distracted by other books. And I haven’t watched season 2 of the show yet, either.
So, my laundry day reading plans changed, and I took my awesome big floppy paperback edition with me…and then promptly realized that I didn’t remember enough of what actually happened in that 100 pages I had read previously, so I had to start over from the beginning.
This is really fun because this book is definitely not on the TBR my fiance picked out for me for the month of May. What also doesn’t help with my reading through that TBR is the fact that my fiance and I met up with Signy Cullen on Friday and we ended up at Barnes & Noble…so I bought a decent stack of books, a few of them that I would love to be reading right now.
For what I would like to start reading soon, I really should get started on my May TBR, but I also have been really looking forward to one of the books I just picked up, so I’m going to make a deal with myself. My next read will be a TBR read, and then when I finish that, I can read Ship It by Britta Lundin. The TBR read I will read will probably be The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen, because I have heard great things about the trilogy and have been meaning to read it for a while now.
