Weekly Wrap-Up (7)

Hey all, Dani here.

Let me just start today’s post by saying that I actually have a writing update. Camp NaNoWriMo started yesterday, and I was encouraged to sit down and start writing, a slightly frustrating process as we are still without internet at home. Granted, that does give me a writing area free from the distractions of social media and YouTube. But since I’ve mostly been writing on Google Docs the past few years, it also makes writing a little difficult.

I’m actually writing by hand at the moment, and will have to type everything up this weekend, but I’ve written a few pages (front and back) of my novel. This beginning is super rough, and I know it will need A LOT of editing, but I’m still writing, and it feels so good.

I have actually read quite a bit in the past week. I read The Gamer’s Guide to Getting the Girl, finished Sal & Gabi Break the Internet, then read Four Dead Queens during #ReadathonbyZoe, and then I started my April by reading Geekerella again so I would be ready to read the companion novel.

My next reads are The Princess and the Fangirl and The Devouring Gray.

I don’t exactly know what I’m reading after these, but it will probably be some of the books on my TBR for Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon this weekend.

Finally, the other part of this week’s wrap up is that yesterday Damian and I went down to Barnes & Noble and were at the release day event for Christine Lynn Herman and Emily A Duncan. It was such a fun time, and I was able to get both books signed.

As a bonus, I have spoken with Emily about her book and D&D on Twitter, so I brought her a set of dice and a big d20, all inspired by her book…and I stunned her for a few seconds. She stared at the dice as if they were something precious. And then she asked if she could give me a hug, which I was totally cool with.

T

hat is it for this past week. I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
