Hey all, Dani here.
Another Monday means another volume of manga to review. Honestly as quickly as I read these, I will always have a backlog to review, but that’s okay because that means I should never miss a Manga Monday post. Right? Aside from the obvious exception of the one Monday a month that is Calendar Girls. I just checked my list of “to review” manga and I have 19 volumes at this precise moment…and considering Damian and I took advantage of the VIZ Media sale through B&N, we just increased the size of our manga collection. It’s a good time to be a bookworm.
Anyway, let’s jump into another review.
Story and Art: Ryoko Kui
With the possibility of starvation as a constant companion, Laios’ party continues advancing deeper into the Dungeon. The adventurers have made it to the third floor but only rotting zombies, ghastly spirits, living paintings, and golems await them–all of them absolutely inedible. After coming this far by adapting and learning how to live off the dubious bounties of the Dungeon, how will they manage when even the meanest monster won’t make a decent meal?

This continues to he an amusing and intriguing series. Yes, it is slow going for some of the character development and such, but I am totally sticking around for the dungeon food recipes. I seriously might end up using some of them in a future D&D session.
What I will say about this particular volume is that though there wasn’t a whole lot of advancement or development, we did start to learn more about some of the adventuring party, which was cool. It actually makes me really excited about future volumes.
One of my favorite scenes was between the halfling rogue and the dwarf chef. They have a discussion/disagreement about specialties such as traps and the preparing of food. By the end of the situation they have more of an appreciation for each other, and they’ve both learned something.
So yeah, this series doesn’t make my have to binge read all of them right now list, but it one I will be continuing, probably at a slow and steady pace as there are only like 6 volumes out currently.
