Manga Review: How to Treat Magical Beasts Vol 3

Hey all, Dani here.

Well, I made it a whole week on the new blogging schedule and so far, so good. I’m already feeling better about sitting down and writing posts, which is nice. I think having the Recommendation, Discussion, and Book Tag posts will help with the overall cohesiveness and breaking up the monotony of 95% reviews.

And I hope you all have been checking out Damian’s review posts as well. He spent a good chunk of time prepping up a bunch of manga reviews for all of you…and he’s been talking about maybe doing up some book reviews. He only reads a handful of books each year, though he reads quite a bit of manga, so I think he’ll be fine posting the occasional book review too. We’ll just see what the future brings, right?

On another note I’m trying to get my posts for this week/weekend written up ahead of time because Friday morning Damian and I are heading out to his grandparents’ house for the holiday weekend, and they live somewhere that has pretty much zero cell phone service and very limited internet. In my mind it is a 4 day camping excursion where I get to unplug and refresh. I had such a good time with this experience last year and I have been so excited the nearer we get to Memorial Day Weekend. Our tent is packed up and ready and I have a huge stack of books (and I do mean HUGE) waiting to be read. But I’ll talk more about that on Wednesday’s post.

Today I’m here to talk about manga, so let’s just jump into the review.

Summary

MAGICAL MYSTERIES

While chasing down a thief, Ziska finds herself in a spooky house—and face-to-face with a ghost! Not long after, she’s confronted with another case: a missing cat and a mysterious man with even more mysterious powers. Just what has Ziska gotten herself into?

My Thoughts

Rating: 5 stars

Why do I have to wait until October for the next volume?!?!

Ahem, anyway, this series is just so cute. Ziska is adorable and geniunely wants to help all these magical creatures. I definitely would put Ziska in Hufflepuff, and I think she and Newt would get along super well.

We get to see more of the world and more creatures in this one. And okay, so most of the injuries and illnesses are wrapped up pretty easily. Most of the time it’s just a couple issues for each situation, so there are like three smaller creature scenarios in each volume. I’m definitely seeing hints to more overarching plots, but so far it is mostly episodic. Which is fine.

I totally adore this series, and as I mentioned earlier, why is the wait between volumes so long? We only get like two volumes a year, pretty much. Oh well. I guess I’ll just have to reread these a few times.

Where to Buy

You can pick up this volume from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-million, Book Depository, or your local independent bookstore.
