Hey guy Damian here,
So seems like despite the good things happening lately there is one big bad thing to almost match. Problems with the family, but at least I have the love of my life and all these wonderful worlds to disappear into along side other readers. Kind of needed a late night post and to just write a little bit since I find myself unable to sleep. Getting ready for Halloween and just bought an airbrush so going to see how that goes.
Aoi Tsubaki inherited her grandfather’s ability to see spirits-and his massive debt to them.
Now she’s been kidnapped to Kakuriyo, the spirit world, to make good on his bill. Her options: marry the head of the inn her grandfather trashed, or get eaten by demons. But Aoi isn’t the type to let spirits push her around, and she’s determined to redeem her grandfather’s IOU on her own terms!
Aoi wants to work off her debt to the Tenjin-ya inn, but she only has one day to find a position and none of the managers are willing to hire a human! If she can just get someone to see past her troublesome lineage, Aoi is certain she can prove her worth!
I did not think I would enjoy this but as free reading it I got hit in the feels. The story is its own thing, but I was reminded of the Studio Gibli film Spirited Away. As I read on I found myself rooting for Aoi and at the same time liking the ‘bad guys’ of the story. The spirits of the story each have a unique position in the inn and help keep it running. Even if a few of them threaten to eat Aoi she doesn’t back down and I can’t help but not hate the spirits. The head of the inn intrigues me the most and does his assistant. I am hoping there is more to the head than he is letting on but that could also just be wishful thinking. I would recommend this manga for storyline and quirky cast if characters for sure. Looking forward to reading the next few for sure.
