Weekly Wrap-Up (83)

Hey all, Dani here.

Another week has come and gone. And I’ll be completely honest, y’all: I am so hoping to find the time to write up some of these reviews for the books I’ve been reading lately. I just want to talk about them all here. But my day job is proving to be a bit demanding on me physically this past couple weeks, and it’s made it difficult to do my evening job and my hobbies. So I’m not making any promises–aside from the already scheduled blog tour posts–but I’m really hoping to have some review posts up soon.

And this isn’t even like a normal week where I get to be excited about only having one more work day to slog through; work declared Friday to be a scheduled work day, so I have a 10 hour shift tomorrow and then an 8 hour shift on Friday. I’m really hoping that time goes by quickly. I mean, I have been able to do quite a bit of character development and plotting (for both D&D and my novel) while at work, so I guess that’s a small positive to the whole thing.

Okay, again, no video gaming. BUT, we did pick up the Borderlands collection for the Switch, so I might try playing it some soon. We’ll see.

Now, for watches, we watched “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” “The Haunted Mansion,” a few more episodes of “Naruto,” and the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” movie. Oh, and I watched a few more episodes of season 3 of “Leverage” during my re-watch of the series.

When it comes to the books I’ve finished in the last week, I’m happy to say that I’ve actually managed to finish a couple books, so yay. I’m participating in the blog tour for The Code for Love and Heartbreak so you can expect my review on Oct 1st. And I’ll hopefully be able to get around to writing the review for The Obsidian Tower soon as well. Finally, it was a re-read for me, but I made it through Well Met so now I am refreshed and ready to read the recently released sequel/companion book.

I was finally able to start Legendborn! I have been wanting to read this book for months, and that desire has only increased since I got my copy on release day. But I knew that I needed to try and finish some of my in-progress reads first. Of course, I do still have a couple in-progress reads from the last couple weeks, so hopefully I can finish those soon, but still, progress is progress.

My list of books that I’m hoping to start soon hasn’t really changed much from last week, because these are all still books that I want or need to read. I don’t have a physical copy of Well Played yet, but I did snag the e-book, because I don’t want to wait to jump into this book. And I still need to read Kingdom of Sea and Stone for my part in the blog tour coming up in a couple weeks. The final two books on my short-term TBR are both fantasy reads that I have heard a LOT of good things about, so I’m really hoping I can jump into them soon.

But I only have a two-day weekend this week, and one of those days will be fairly busy with our next D&D session, so we’ll see what reading I’m actually able to accomplish.

Oh, in bookish news, Banned Books Week is next week. Also, the next session of Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon is coming up on October 24th. Finally, I know this is still a few months away, but I plan to once again host the #JolabokaflodReadathon, which will take place from 6pm on December 24th until 6 am on December 25th. I’ll have all the details up probably in November, but you can also check out my post from last year about this event.

Okay, I think that’s about all for right now. What are you currently reading? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll be back soon with more bookish content.
