Hey all, Dani here.
All right, now it’s time to play a little bit of catch-up again. I’ve missed a couple months worth of haul posts, but that’s okay, because regardless of if I post on the blog or Twitter or Instagram or whatever, I always do a book haul photo shoot every time I go book shopping…so it’s actually pretty easy to just look at the photos on my phone to figure out what needs to go with each post.
Anyway, you aren’t here for the behind-the-scenes information…unless you are? I mean, I’m not opposed to doing a post about my process of book reading/reviewing/blogging/whatever. Let me know if you want a behind the scenes breakdown.
All right. Well, let’s go ahead and talk about the books I picked up in the month of May.
So, overall it was a pretty good month of book buying. I can say that I’ve read four of these books (okay two of them I read years ago at their original release) and I am currently reading one other book here…so while that isn’t a great ratio of books purchased to books read, it’s not as bad as some months.
As with most months, I just bought a whole heck of a lot of fantasy books. What can I say? I know what I like to read. Though there are also a few contemporary options here, so those should be quick summery reads…I hope.
I also really just had to pick up the new covers for the Witchlands series by Susan Dennard. I have the first four (well three and the novella) in the original hardcover designs, and thankfully the cover changes are such that I can keep getting the rest of the series and have them still match—aside from the spines, because I think that’s where the BIGGEST changes are.
I’m pretty happy with my book purchases and hopefully I’ll be reading more of these, and then writing up reviews for them, soon enough.
Okay, now it’s time for the OwlCrate Unboxing.
The May theme for OwlCrate was Expect the Unexpected. I was really excited about this box because it had the next book tin in the series of tins based on the Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab. It’s funny because I normally give the book tins to Damian, because he can use them to store small crafty bits and bobs…but I will NOT let him have these ones. They’re actually sitting on my bookshelves with my two sets of Shades of Magic hardcovers.
And I’m also happy to have another tote bag, because those are always useful. Plus the metal bookmark is nice…though mine had a slight printing error on one side. Obviously the bookmark is still perfectly functional, so while I know I could contact OwlCrate and “complain” about it, I honestly don’t feel the need. If I was missing the bookmark entirely that might be a different situation entirely.
I can also say that I really like the changes to the cover for the book. I believe it’s mostly just a shift in colors, but it’s so lovely and gives off some serious spring vibes. Anyway, The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He is not at the top of my TBR, but I am intrigued by it, so hopefully I’ll be able to pick it up at some point in the vaguely near future.
