January 2022 FairyLoot Unboxing

Hey all, Sam here.

I’m honestly debating how I should schedule up these posts…should I do a couple review posts and then an unboxing or book haul post….should I just go back and forth between them? There are a lot more review posts I need to catch up on, but I also don’t want to overload people with kind of the same content every day.

Okay, honestly doing an unboxing and then two reviews and then another unboxing probably makes a bit more sense…and then maybe sprinkle in some D&D or game or writing type posts in there too, just to spice things up a bit.

Oh, speaking of writing…I participated in Camp NaNoWriMo in April and set my goal at 20,000 words, but ended the month with only like 15,000 words…which was still way more words than I had been writing, so I’m still considering it a win overall. Thanks to the packing and cleaning and moving, I’ve set my July Camp NaNoWriMo goal at only 10,000 words, but I’m feeling pretty good about my chances. I have a few more D&D stories that I’m somewhat itching to write, so we’ll see how that goes.

Anyway, this is not a writing post. This is an unboxing post, so let’s just go ahead and jump into the January 2022 “Monsters Within” box from FairyLoot:

This month’s book is another instance of me buying the US edition, even when the book was coming in my FairyLoot, because I actually liked the US cover too. And again, I’m sad to need to admit that I still haven’t read this book either. I want to. It sounds interesting, and I currently have all of the NetGalley books that I own left unpacked while the other 18 boxes of books are ready to move out, so this book is on my list of possible reads over the next couple weeks, so who knows…I might just get to it soon.

Anyway, the book is probably my favorite part of this box, although the trinket dish is nice. The problem is that I already have two other bookish trinket dishes from other book boxes, and I don’t really know how many trinket dishes I actually need. Bookmarks are always useful though, even if this metal bookmark isn’t my favorite kind. Don’t get me wrong; I love metal bookmarks. Colorworld Books has a wide variety of them and I use them all the time. This is just a thicker metal, and I personally don’t like using it in a book, but that’s just me.

Honestly, that is pretty much it for today. I still have February, March, April, and May’s boxes to post about here, and by the time I have those done I’ll probably have the June box in my hands too.

Thinking about it, I don’t know that I can recall which books I bought in which month for separate book haul posts…so I’m probably just going to do one post and cover all of the books I’ve purchased so far this year. I’ve had a couple good book buying months, but for the most part I’ve scaled back quite a bit, partly because of trying to save for a couple trips later in the year, but partly because I haven’t been reading as much either.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by today, and I’ll hopefully be back soon with more geeky content.
